A home that tells a century of Lucanian life

Welcome to Archita 51, a holiday home in the historic centre of Bernalda. Here, every stone tells a story, every corner holds memories of an authentic past among the hills of Matera.

On Via Archita in Bernalda stands the house of my grandparents, my uncles, my father — who always cared for it and made it comfortable for our summer holidays. It is the house where I lived happy moments of my childhood with family and friends. I am deeply connected to these spaces, to the air that breathes through these alleys, and to the sounds that echo during the ora calda. That summer moment when everything (almost) falls silent and everyone surrenders to rest. The sun is high, shadows detach sharply from the buildings, forming compositions for photographs filled with Mediterranean flavours and scents. Every summer I brave the indecent afternoon heat to wander alone through alleys and little squares.

We have carefully preserved the historic and architectural value, keeping the high ceilings, floors and timeless atmosphere, to offer you an authentic experience of the truest Basilicata, a few steps from the Sassi di Matera.
